Front-end modules replace steel with hybrid technology for lighter systems

In Europe and North America, Faurecia has been a pacesetter with its front-end modules in reducing assembly time, costs and vehicle weight. These systems incorporate Faurecia's mEasy self-locating headlamp technology, which eliminates many of the steel brackets and other small, but relatively heavy, components.

Integrated systems reduce the weight of front ends

  • A front-end carrier with hybrid technology combines thin-section steel or aluminum reinforcement with light plastic materials.
  • A single front-end carrier can serve several vehicle models. The Faurecia front-end module reduces the weight of the overall system by 5 to 10 percent by using plastic in modular construction that eliminates many clips and fasteners. It incorporates Faurecia's mEasy technology, ensuring optimal alignment of the headlamps with the bumper, as well as superior fit and finish.
  • An integrated front-end carrier concept shows how Faurecia anticipates producing weight savings of 15 to 20 percent by using a modular approach with interchangeable plastic components and aluminum to replace conventional heavy steel components.

Front-end modules from Faurecia can help next-generation vehicles save weight while maintaining the highest levels of safety for vehicle owners and pedestrians.
