Seating concept targets lighter construction and improved comfort
Faurecia's enhanced Sustainable Comfort Seat allows the next generation of vehicles to make a clean start – in comfort and style.
Faurecia's Sustainable Comfort Seat concept is lighter than other seats, thereby reducing the overall vehicle's weight, improving fuel economy, and
lowering the carbon footprint and operating costs over the life of the vehicle.
We've reduced the depth of the seat back for the driver and front passenger, freeing up considerable space in the vehicle cabin – or to shorten the vehicle's length. At the same time, the seat is more comfortable than many conventional systems because Faurecia uses biometrics: the back and cushion are tailored to the human form. The same cushioning that provides sports shoes with their comfort and flexibility replaces traditional foam in Sustainable Comfort seats. The seat is attractively designed, and the back shell is finished with Faurecia's Ligneos wood grain that incorporates natural wood fibers.
Rear seat with more comfort, less weight
In the back seat, Faurecia is introducing a new plastic structural carrier that replaces the conventional wire frame. This distinctively designed seat is more comfortable than most other rear seats, can easily incorporate lighting and storage, and compared to standard seats, weighs 15 percent less because its structure reduces the amount of required polyurethane foam and trim covers.
Lighter, more recyclable headrests
Even the front headrests are thinner and lighter, replacing traditional materials with a plastic structural carrier that slims down total weight by about 10 percent and is more easily recyclable than previous headrests. The headrest can be feature and appearance master-planned for low cost market flexibility.
